Rare and important English Dragonetti model baroque double bass bow by a member of the Dodd family and stamped Dodd, with fruitwood frog and bone adjuster, 137gm (good restorations to the butt and frog); also another rare early French baroque period fixed-tension double bass bow on the early Dragonetti model, with ebony frog, 115gm - ** Both bows in a bespoke made case - ** These bows are accompanied by framed photographs of a watercolour depicting Domenico Dragonetti playing a Type 1 bow in Venice circa 1893 before he moved to London in 1894, after which he appears to have adopted the bow shown in the second photograph showing the characteristics of his contemporary Londoner John Dodd. We feel it is possible the bow depicted in this photograph is the very Dodd bow in this lot
